.Earlier this week I had the pleasure- nay, JOY! of meeting Jayne Cox @Loving_my_years for the first time after a few months of chat on Twitter. It was obvious that we shared a mindset, a sense of humour and a passion for making our clients feel great about themselves, so it was no surprise at all that we got on so well. And we are both animal lovers, and fortunately her menagerie seemed to warm to me as much as Jayne herself- phew! (More of the animals later; they deserve a blog post all to themselves, of that there is no doubt!)
Jayne was very keen to write in her own words how she found the experience of our portrait session; why it was important to her to find the right photographer; and the positive benefits of having images of yourself that you can be really happy with. Over to you Jayne.

“It’s no easy task to trust your Professional image to the hands of another. This is especially true when, like me, you are a former Eating Disorder Therapist, a Coach specialising in the Empowerment of Women at Midlife and have the reputation of a Body Image Expert! I want my image to be positive, approachable and reflect the real me. Most importantly I want images of myself that are produced using natural light and without the use of airbrushing. Now just like anyone else I want wonderful photographs, so I chose a natural light specialist in Photography, Maz, to create my images.

Maz and I share a passion for the empowerment of Women and positive Body Image, for this reason we connected on Twitter. On meeting the combination or our energies was quite something to behold! I am sure Maz will share her story of what she gained from our meeting and for me I made something of a discovery, it’s not just about a bunch of photographs it’s just like choosing your Coach, it’s about a relationship, values and giving that little bit extra. As with my Coaching sessions I expect each shoot is absolutely unique!

Maz is a natural and gifted photographer, putting you at ease, making it clear she understands light and how to use it. For me the power of having images created this way is that they are ‘real’, I can actually see my good points and I am reassured that I didn’t need massive manipulation to be presentable. Imagine the power of that for your confidence and that of your whole family. I’ve seen images of babies and young children manipulated, that simply isn’t right!

So I am a very happy bunny, what you see is what you get, this really does capture me and my love for my years, my body and my life and I know that if you bump into me in Waitrose you’ll recognise me, I love that!”

I think it’s fairly certain that Jayne and I will be working together in the future to spread the message of positive self image using her coaching skills and the medium of photography. We’d love to hear from anyone who has thoughts on this!. Incidentally none of these photographs have even seen Photoshop; slight processing in Lightroom only, to highlight Jayne’s colourful character. Nothing added, nothing removed! If anyone is curious, I’m happy to do a post showing a few images straight out of camera, and discussing how I process them. Do let me know if that’s something you’d like to see.
