Flash Bang Photo Booth – St Pierre Golf Club Ball

.

.

.

It’s been a good long while since Bridget and I have done a Photobooth for an event; it’s so much fun to do something so different to the day job! And there’s no doubt, a photobooth *makes* a party! It’s such a opportunity for party goers to let their hair down, explore their creativity and generally show off! We’ve been lucky enough to get to some events where our customers have been great sports and up for anything we throw at them.  And, I have to be honest, Bridge and I (that’s her below, and my feet ending the post:)) have just as much fun as the guests.

Thanks to Alan and the St Pierre Golf Club for inviting us along; here is just a taster of the delights waiting for you on your private gallery!

Bloody good Maz, these look a lot of fun, everyone enjoying themselves and some really great shots to remember the evening.

Loyal readers may remember the shoot I did for Redhound a few months ago… THE most fabulous dogs and their owners in all kinds if knitwear and rainwear! Well now the Handmade, British born doggy-wear range has been expanded to include dog beds and ladies’ coats- so it was back to the Steading  to get Debs some great pictures for her website.

undefined

One day I should really post some of the out-takes from these doggy shoots- the blurred fur of a departing dog; the slice of ham held just out of view; the inappropriate sniffs and smells and poorly timed toilet breaks! But on the whole though these pups were supermodels, diligent and loyal. And they definitely approved of the gorgeous beds!

Oh to shoot a dog with blue eyes- what a treat! Show us your best side, Sheltie!

undefinedundefined

Here’s Frankie, modelling knitwear like a pro. It was chilly, mimd, I could have done with a polo neck sweater myself:)

Tongue! Boots! Pink!

Deb gives lessons in how to herd cats/ juggle soap/ restrain a dachshund….

Excuse me Mrs Photographer; you have a slice of sausage on your lens. I would like to eat it, please:)

undefinedundefined

Bruno wears it well, doesn’t he? He could wear a bin liner and look a million dollars;)

Such a fun day. Do visit Redhound’s website for some truly gorgeous gifts for your canine friends:)

Berry + Stone = Creative Genius {Portrait Photography – South Wales}

Sarah Berry + Sarah Stone; talented, creative individuals with a sharp eye for design and an urge to break the mould in business. Their baby, Berrystone, offers bespoke canvases combining art, words, pictures and LOVE! And I was invited along to Sarah (B)’s amazing home to take some profile shots for their website. This was an even greater honour than usual, as Sarah (S) is an incredible photographer herself, specialising in bump and baby portraiture. Once I stopped drooling over Sarah’s house (featured on Grand Designs, no less!) I settled in to watch the girls work and laugh, and managed to get some lovely, natural shots of them. As you can see, this was not a difficult job! Oodles of natural light and a couple of funny, pretty girls, a few cups of coffee, job done!

Maz,
Thank you so much for these lovely photo’s. Although you know I hate having my photo taken (much prefer being behind the camera) – you made it fun, relaxing and we had a hoot!
Sincerely appreciate all your help with this and I feel very honoured to call you my friend.
Although we are on each others doorstep, this goes to show that you don’t have to view every other photographer as your competition. Every photographer has a unique style and there is plenty of work to go around.
Personally, I would have no hesitation in recommending anyone having a photography session with you as love how you work and girl…. you’ve got style and I love you to bits!
Big hugs & thanks for your continued support.
Sarah x

These pictures make me smile!

While I was at Jayne’s (see below) on Monday I was stalked and surrounded by the most delicious trio of animals you could hope to meet! Their aloofness battled with their curiosity and as they kept near each other for security they could not resist looking deep into my lens (well, who can:)).  How I would love to enter their minds for a few moments to really understand what these darlings are thinking! Actually I’m thinking of running a caption competition; fell free to leave suggestions in the comments…..

How the hell do you get your colours to be so rich when only naturally lit. I don’t get it.

Oooo lovely piccies, love the boxer :)

Jayne Cox; Loving Your Years- {Natural Light Photography}

.

.

.Earlier this week I had the pleasure- nay, JOY! of meeting Jayne Cox @Loving_my_years for the first time after a few months of chat on Twitter. It was obvious that we shared a mindset, a sense of humour and a passion for making our clients feel great about themselves, so it was no surprise at all that we got on so well. And we are both animal lovers, and fortunately her menagerie seemed to warm to me as much as Jayne herself- phew! (More of the animals later; they deserve a blog post all to themselves, of that there is no doubt!)

Jayne was very keen to write in her own words how she found the experience of our portrait session; why it was important to her to find the right photographer; and the positive benefits of having images of yourself that you can be really happy with. Over to you Jayne.

“It’s no easy task to trust your Professional image to the hands of another. This is especially true when, like me, you are a former Eating Disorder Therapist, a Coach specialising in the Empowerment of Women at Midlife and have the reputation of a Body Image Expert! I want my image to be positive, approachable and reflect the real me. Most importantly I want images of myself that are produced using natural light and without the use of airbrushing. Now just like anyone else I want wonderful photographs, so I chose a natural light specialist in Photography, Maz, to create my images.

Maz and I share a passion for the empowerment of Women and positive Body Image, for this reason we connected on Twitter. On meeting the combination or our energies was quite something to behold! I am sure Maz will share her story of what she gained from our meeting and for me I made something of a discovery, it’s not just about a bunch of photographs it’s just like choosing your Coach, it’s about a relationship, values and giving that little bit extra. As with my Coaching sessions I expect each shoot is absolutely unique!

Maz is a natural and gifted photographer, putting you at ease, making it clear she understands light and how to use it. For me the power of having images created this way is that they are ‘real’, I can actually see my good points and I am reassured that I didn’t need massive manipulation to be presentable. Imagine the power of that for your confidence and that of your whole family. I’ve seen images of babies and young children manipulated, that simply isn’t right!

So I am a very happy bunny, what you see is what you get, this really does capture me and my love for my years, my body and my life and I know that if you bump into me in Waitrose you’ll recognise me, I love that!”

I think it’s fairly certain that Jayne and I will be working together in the future to spread the message of positive self image using her coaching skills and the medium of photography. We’d love to hear from anyone who has thoughts on this!. Incidentally none of these photographs have even seen Photoshop; slight processing in Lightroom only, to highlight Jayne’s colourful character. Nothing added, nothing removed! If anyone is curious, I’m happy to do a post showing a few images straight out of camera, and discussing how I process them. Do let me know if that’s something you’d like to see.

Great shoot, Maz! She is radiant :)

Fabulous – so natural that they bounce right out of the screen!

Jayne must be so proud of these; I know I would be.

Wow – Jayne’s radiance shines through. I bet she was a joy to photograph and it shows! Gorgeous photos.

Antonio SpinozziFebruary 17, 2011 - 4:50 pm

Sometimes I am really stupid, like really stupid. Something could be staring me in the face that is so darn obvious but I won’t see it. Are your photos shot with natural light?! Are you the Lars Von Trier of photography? If that be the case I am somewhat more in awe than I already was.

MaryanneFebruary 18, 2011 - 10:26 am

Thanks everyone! Jayne was indeed a joy to photograph; and it never feels like work when you get on so well with a client.
Antonio, now I’ve googled Lars von Trier I am duly humbled and flattered by your comment. Thankyou, friend x
