Only Connect- The Photography Parlour Shootout, Bristol.

It isn’t what happens to people that matters, it’s what happens between people that’s important. When you’re relatively new in a creative industry, and one that necessitates long hours alone at the computer, it’s essential to grab the opportunity to meet up with like minds and share advice and laughs and images with each other. This year already- and we’re not even quite half way through- I have made so many wonderful new friends in the photography world and many of them I have found through Rosie Parson’s new venture, The Photography Parlour blog, an online resource and forum for aspiring pros. Says Rosie (an extremely talented but humble wedding photographer) ‘I’ve always thought there wasn’t that much community and support for fledgling professional photographers, and when you’re starting out it’s so important to get advice and connected’. And it certainly meets that brief. It’s friendly and inclusive, and I’m honoured to have already written a couple of articles for it. So, a bunch of us decided it was time to meet up for real, and a bunch turned into around 30, which was great, and we treated ourselves to a day of sunshine and shooting down by the waterfront in Bristol. Rosie procured some fabulous models, makeup artists and flowers, cakes and vintage teasets and a superb ship to house us all! Great fun, and we all got some great shots. Here we go…
